Rockville BluTube HYBRID Amplifier This PARTIAL tube unit from Rockville has some audiophiles scratching their heads! It sounds very good, easy to use but not as TUBE sonic as the high end ($1000+) Stereo Tube Amps on the market. Ive played my vinyls on this unit and my 100 watt rms Solid State Receiver and it's hard to hear that "warm tube" effect. However, I can say that I don't experience much listener fatigue as I do with the Solid State at medium volume levels. Playing CD's or Flac from the USB is a pleasure and sound very good! This unit serve my purpose for the price. The tube section only powers the pre-amp while solid state coupling provides the speaker power. The marketing is misleading because it says 70 Watts when really it only provides 25 watts at 8 ohms and 35 watts at 4 ohms. But the sound is loud and bright using my 8 ohm speakers which are not so efficient. The volume meter is puzzling as there is no reference. Also the tower behind the tubes is empty space, maybe just a design enhancement to make the unit appear larger than it really is!The versatility is obvious with inputs for USB, Coaxial/Optical and RCA, speaker and Sub outs and Bluetooth. Overall, I would recommend it to those audio lovers who like to listen to warm and sweet sounds at lower levels! Using headphones is a great treat, and using a pair of flat efficient speakers adds another listening dimension. It's basically a receiver with it's combined power/preamp/ and connections. My hearing today is not the same it was earlier in my life but I'm still able to enjoy better signal to noise and low THD which enhances the listening experience. Plus it looks very cool with it's blue halo of light!

Not an Audiophile but True music lovers take on this inexpensive tube amp! I purchased this unit in June 2022 for 179.00 on Amazon at the time I wasn't expecting much, having owned several modern, and high-end vintage systems from 10 watts to 130 watts per channel. This was going to be my gate way to the tube amp system I always desired, knowing this wasn't a true tube system and its relatively low wattage output. I was still intrigued by the low price.I received it within a few days of ordering it, It was well packaged and undamaged. First impression up on listening to it I honestly wasn't overly impressed at first with the sound quality, but found the build quality pretty decent. Tone control seemed lacking wishing it at a mid range control like found on some Marantz receivers. However with several hours of burn in I found it was sounding better and the tone was becoming more accurate. I sampled several pairs of vintage speakers from EPI, RTR, DCM, Design Accoustics and even some hard to drive Elac 6 ohm speakers, and I'm totally impressed with its ability to drive a powered sub and even two pairs of efficient 8 ohm floor speakers at time at volume. I find my self using the blue tooth and USB daily and use a fiber optic cable for TV audio. This thing has several hundred hours on it to date, still using the original tubes that came with. The only issue I have had was the right channel started going out about six months ago on when turning it on. as some others had mentioned in their reviews. I found the cause was in the headphone switch, after cleaning it with contact cleaner, and pushing on and off several times the right channel came back and it hasn't been an issue since doing so. Honestly if this thing completely died after this much use I wouldn't be upset, it has survived some pretty challenging jam sessions as I like to push the volume up listening in my basement Mancave to mostly Rock but also every genre of music at some point. At 60 years old I have listened to just about everything! Like I said I have many other systems and even recently purchased a new Ampapa amp on Amazon to drive some larger speakers with more wattage, but don't find the sound quality any better than what this Rockville unit has given me. For those of you questioning the reliability I don't think you'll be disappointed. I have seen audio influencers / reviewers doubting this unit and the lack of the better components found in other amps but even that said this units pretty phenomenal for the cost. I'll be ordering a second one soon to replace this one should it fail! Don't get me wrong my vintage stuff sounds better but there is a huge price difference and nostalgia involved that this can't compete with, but visually the Rockville has had several of my friends impressed with it!

Better and worse than I expected. Not my first of this kind of device. I'm amazed by the size, and general design. Its one of the better looking vacuum tube amps I've used. I like all the controls, it feels amazing. Only time will tell if its built to last, but frankly best feeling device of this style I've owned. And I have some 60-70 year old stereo equipment that is pretty excellent. The sound is clean and solid. But the ambient hum on this unit is Particularly loud in my opinion.I have a 60 plus year old unit that has a more enjoyable hum to it, more of a low thrum. If you plan on using this to listen to quiet music you will certainly grow annoyed with the hum its just too upper mid in its sound. The VU meter on mine is not working the way you'd expect, I run this primarily on optical audio. Optical and Blu tooth are what I got it for... if its supposed to work with those what you need to do is MAX the output of the device sending signal to this and turn to volume on this amp WAY DOWN.The more I putz with it the more I like it. It has the output of a much larger vacuum amp... I guess if I was to complain about features, I'd have liked this to be capable of driving a center channel without any wire fu... but for a 2.1 it is glorious. Running it on a 2 left 2 right setup as I right this driving some vintage 50 year old pioneers and Sony throw back units from 20 ears ago. The hum will not endear it to you, at least the hum of my unit... if you want to listen to music below middle volume, its overpowering. Unless you place the unit far removed from where you'll be listening to the music, and with a unit like this you want to be near it. The hum should add to the ambiance not detract. If you plan to be more than 6 ft from the unit when listening it sounds MUCH better, the tone lowers as the higher frequency sound from it is washed out. If you want to use this with a PC stereo system... its gonna be less than optimal.I like to blend white noise, so maybe I'll find this meshes well with running water, etc. I will have it in a room with at a few aquariums.Testing it on salsa, 80's rock, metal, country, classical, 90's pop. This is not the final placement for my unit. Just how I have my PC setup currently, building a bigger work bench it will reside on and will be about 1-2 ft further from my head and likely improve my enthusiasm for it. A darn perfect and pure offering. How rare is it to see something without too much feature creep these days? Very essentially what it is.EDIT:After messing with this thing for last couple weeks I found leaving it on (not playing anything, just on with no input) brought down the tone of the hum from the tubes, making it much more enjoyable. If I turn it off and then back on a day later it is a higher pitched hum again. It is actually a very pleasant ambient thrum IMHO, and now is easily masked by low volume classical music.Given how much I like this in all other regards discerning this in a way to manage the amp has been great.I'd say I'm now 110% satisfied as I can absolutely get the experience I desired, and far exceed my expectations for the price tag.If you want a 2.1 vacuum tube amp that is modern in all the ways that matter and classic in all the ways that matter look no further. Particularly for the sticker price. Just need to see how these tubes hold up over time. I'm running OG tubes on my Magnavox amp that are 20 years older than me.EDIT:I've found that if you don't mind leaving this thing on the sound of the vacum tubes deminishes to nothing. I leave it on non stop, I've not done a kilawat draw evaluation. I may and return to update this. But as it stands, unless this thing dies prematurely (and this is being measured against some 60 year old tube amps still going strong... ) Its kind of a no brainer recommendation, everyone should have one.
