Only fun with 3 friends, solo is horrid it's a fun game just like the left 4 dead franchise but only meant to be played with 3 friends, not randoms. solo play is no good because the bots are awful. they've added a little more complexity like a currency system and cards which to me are more nuisance than anything. as far as i can tell, at least with solo, you start picking a character and load out and you're stuck with that throughout the entire campaign. you can't switch characters or guns... between sections/in the safehouse beyond what you find along the way.

The game isn’t worth the price yet!! I got the ultimate edition, honestly the game needs a few patches and hopefully it gets better. As for now, I would wait for a sale! Don’t buy at full PRICE!!!

Amazon sent the Standard instead of Ultimate Edition Amazon sent the the game all wrapped up in Ultimate edition, but the code in the game was for the standard edition. Amazon sent an email admitting to the error and provided a 10 digit code to redeem, but no instructions on how or where to redeem the code. I ended up returning the game and plan on buying it at Best Buy. The game itself is good, can be overwhelming at times when you’re a rookie and don’t understand the card system.

Not enough value Got this because I really love L4D2 on steam but this is not L4D2 and will never get close especially with an edition like this that just gives you dlc that will take you a few hours to beat

Criminally underrated... I'm not sure why this game doesn't get the love it deserves. Maybe it's because it wasn't finished by Valve, as the Left 4 Dead series was (this was made by the same team Valve bought Left 4 Dead from). Maybe it's because it changed the formula slightly. I'm not sure. I will say I have NOT played Versus mode (not a fan of Vs on any game). But as for co-op and solo, this is every bit as fun as Left 4 Dead and much deeper. It's still a "go from point A to point B" type game as L4D was. It still has an AI "director" that adapts to how well, or how poorly, you're playing. It still has options that change, such as detours, items, etc. But this ups the ante with a card system and upgrades.I typically hate "card" games. And this isn't one. Yes, it has cards. But the cards are just modifiers. You take a "pack" on each run. 15 cards you can choose from your "deck". Like, some examples are I use a deck with "down in front" which means when I'm crouched, friendly fire is disabled. I also use a card for being able to equip a primary weapon in secondary (usually a pistol or meleee item) slot. And cards to increase damage output and such. It's a cool feature so not only do you have a bonus that differs for each character, but you can focus on builds for varying purposes. I have unlimited pistol ammo builds, healing builds, shotgun-centric builds. If you have a group of friends to play with, you coordinate builds to round out weak spots or make sure you have an amazing healer or such. Now all that being said, once you get your packs built (you can have many) you really don't ever think about them other than at the start of a run to go "oh, I'ma take a shotgun build on this one" or "unlimited pistol" on this one. I was worried this card system would turn me against the game but I actually ended up loving it.I also love the upgrade system. You have weapons, as in L4D, and items. Except now, you can upgrade weapons. Add ammo that boosts damage. Or a laser sight that increases accuracy. Suppressors to limit the range zombies hear you. The upgrades are random. Each safe room has an item shop. It has typically 2 weapons, a few weapon upgrades, some items and some team upgrades (like upgrade the amount of items you can carry, increase ammo capacity/health/etc). You can also find items at random through the world. It's great when you find a much loved upgrade early in a run. Though the system isn't perfect. Sometimes you'll get a gun that has a scope that in detrimental and you can't just opt to remove it (I think there is a card that allows you to pay to remove stuff in the field, but you'll want better options for your limited card choices). And you'll have to make choices. Like you should always make sure a couple of team members are carrying tool kits. Because these open supply stashes. Either locked rooms with lots of upgrades and items, or locked boxes which can hold things like flamethrowers, or, the trap boxes, which can hold special items, like the weapon permutations. Like there is a shotgun called Damnation. It adds fire damage and sets enemies ablaze. The downside to the special weapons is they are locked, you can't change or upgrade anything on them. Then you have the gameplay itself. I mean, it's basically L4D. Except, you have bosses. And I mean some bosses that make a tank from L4D look like a girl scout. And to be fair, many of the "special" types are spinoffs of L4D special infected. And this would be all well and good. But those cards that boost your stats? Yeah, there are also detrimental cards that randomly pop up. You may get charred zombies that are on fire, that if you get close, will burn you, and fire doesn't damage them. One ones that leave behind a puddle of acid when killed. Or armored zombies that are wearing ballistic gear & helmets. Like L4D, each run, though similar, will be different, except in Back 4 Blood, the options are so more varied. I've had runs that I felt like I had nothing but good luck, and I've had runs where Murphy's Law was in full effect.Do I have complaints? A few. I wish the AI were a bit better at directions. Most times you can highlight a locked door and if they have a toolkit, they'll open it. But I've not seen the ability to have them open one of the trap boxes with the best loot. And it's hit or miss when you try to get them to pick up an item like toolkits. I also wish you could unlock permanent upgrades without the use of cards.Overall, I have to say, I enjoyed this MORE than Left 4 Dead series in terms of the gameplay, but the writing and characters were better in L4D. Like with most zombie killing games though, this shines brightest when you are playing with friends (and if one of you has the DLC, everyone in your group can play it with them without owning it, EVERY game should do this).Given this ultimate edition routinely drops to VERY low prices, I'd highly recommend picking it up and giving it a fair shake. Yes, you're going to compare it to L4D. But if you go in thinking you're going to love it, you likely will.
